Braidwood Remembers Its WWI Veterans

Marching Home to Braidwood’

Over the last three years, as our part of the recognition of the Centenary of ANZAC, the Braidwood RSL sub-branch has, with the help of the community, identified 467 men and women from the district who went to WWI and 88 who did not return.  Last year we published 88 individual books on those who did not return.  This year we have gathered all available information on the 379 who did return. This information, together with the information previously collected has been included in a single book, ‘Marching Home to Braidwood’ which we will launch after today’s main ceremony.

As part of the Main Ceremony 20 local children will call the honour roll of these men and women who went to WWI from our district in Ryrie Park.  The book will be launched and displayed during the lunch at the Services Club.

The march

The Braidwood parade will assemble outside D & S Motors at 10:30 am in preparation for the march off at 10:45.  Captain Geoff Palmer, RAA, a member of our sub branch will be the parade commander.
